Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
For bigger SME's we provide:Business Continuity Planning Disaster Recovery Introduction
Prosyn can assist corporate clients in identifying the numerous scenarios that threaten their operations today. From disasters such as fire and flood to IT system failure or the illness of key members of staff, contingencies can be defined and a plan can be implemented to mitigate the impact of these events on your business.Prosyn can help you devise a business continuity plan or assist in a full disaster recovery review.
Why not outsource your testing schedules for BCP and DRP to us to ensure these critical tasks are performed regularly. With our help and guidance, you will always be one step ahead of the next major threat to your business.
Business continuity (BCP)
Unplanned events of any nature can lead to devastating consequences for companies, from the loss of a key customer to the loss of one’s entire business. Your IT infrastructure is central to your operations and unexpected system downtime will begin to affect your productivity immediately but business continuity planning (BCP) also encompasses many other aspects of your business.Prosyn will help you plan the steps that would ensure your business continues to function in the event of a disaster and maybe even prevent it happening in the first place. We will document our recommendations, test the plan rigorously by working through various hypothetical scenarios and keep these procedures under constant review.
Disaster recovery
If business continuity planning (BCP) is partly concerned with prevention and limiting the damage, disaster recovery (DR) is very much about the course of action which must be taken when a disaster has occurred.Disasters are a fact and recovery needs to be planned for. A Prosyn DR Plan encompasses all elements of your business. We review the business functionality of key staff members and assess what options you require to effectively support your clients should a DR event occur. This plan will include more than just computer contingencies. It will also encompass elements such as client and supplier listings, contact details for emergency providers of gas, power and other building services and operations functions outside of the realms of IT.
Prosyn has developed a complete range of DR solutions focused on providing the most flexible and cost effective service possible, which keeps sight of your budget and the complexity of your business. Not every company needs a full standby hot site or a desk position waiting for each user. Many plans today rely on a significant proportion of home workers accessing information over ADSL Broadband and a VPN connection.
Speak to Prosyn today to discuss auditing your current DR plan or begin planning a new one.
Testing schedules for BCP and DRP
Larger organisations should ideally test their BCP and DR plans twice a year and after any major system change. Your plan is never finished. It is a “work in progress” and the testing phase is as important as the planning because it is the first time you will see whether the information and backups that have been provisioned would actually allow a full recovery for your organisation.Working to BS 25999 standards, Prosyn will highlight any travel, practical or timescale limitations that need clearer definitions. This process of refinement will allow your management to confidently approach clients, insurance companies and the media with a definitive time that your organisation would require to recover from any incident.
To help spread the cost of these regular reviews, Prosyn can split the testing into separate tasks to spread them throughout the year or include these charges in your IT support contract. For smaller organisations we also offer a low-budget “server and phone system recovery” test, which is limited to reviewing only the critical elements of your plan.
